Long Time, No See

I know it's been 4ever since I've been here...I'll try not to neglect y'all from now on, if you'll forgive me! The first months of school are a nightmare for me.  My youngest has cheer/dance practice every night through the end of October and, by the end of the season, it just sucks the life right out of me!  At any rate, all the hard work paid off, because her poms team cam in first in the conference and her cheer team was third.

I also discovered Sorority Life on Facebook....and I'm TOTALLY addicted! It's ridiculous.  I'll try to get back to scrapping soon, since it's where my heart is.

Kim B's September Color Challenge

is in full swing over at DSO.  Some awesome stuff has been uploaded already and we're barely started for this month!  The kits are free for the taking so get over there and check it out.  I've been wanting to get involved for several months, but I've never designed anything myself apart from an occasional element when I need something very specific.  I loved the color swatch this month...makes me think of misty skies and ocean spray so I thought I'd give it a shot!  I'm pleased to offer my FIRST mini kit today! Here's the preview and the download links:

Thanks to Obsidian Dawn, Gunhild Storeide and The Scrapping Cop for their awesome work and for sharing!

Oh, um...,BTW, you know your brand new air conditioner?

Well it's broken.  Yes, that's right, broken.  Fortunately, we've had an unusually cool and comfy summer with something like four days of actual summer and that was maybe a month ago. (in a "funny" sort of coincidence, those 90-95 degree, 90% humidity days were when the OLD air conditioner gave up its valiant fight with old age) Now, we're supposed to have increasingly warmer days this week, potentially reaching the mid 90's.  It will be the first opportunity we've had to REALLY test the new a/c...but when I came home last night it was a very humid 76 degrees in the house and rising! The unit outside was making some crazy noise and nice warm air was pouring out of the vents!  I said, "Oh, SNOT!" (Yes, I did! and some other stuff, too.) So, we called the a/c guy and he graciously (insert note of sarcasm here) "put us on the list." Maybe I'll snap some pics of him and do a layout...

Interestingly, the a/c is out in my van, too (sigh).

Anyway, all complaining aside, I am truly grateful that this summer has been unusually and abnormally cool AND dry. I'm a complete slug in the the heat and with my allergies/asthma issues, humidity is a killer!

Finally...it's up!

YEAH! Finally it's up and running.  I'll work on some bells and whistles, but at least the blog is working! I'm so excited...I even have my own little icon thingy in the address bar (that only took three hours of work to figure out!) Since I'm a self-taught, learn-as-you-go kind of girl everything new takes longer, but I get there eventually! Whew. Now I'm going to cook dinner and watch NCIS with my hubby.  Maybe a nice penne...

First Post on My New Blog

I'm doing my best to set up the new blog....It's funny how easy this kind of stuff used to be and how it just isn't anymore! I wonder if there's some tech gene that wears out at 40...
